Hong Kong school students form human chain

HONG KONG: In Hong Kong, hundreds of uniformed school students formed human chains in support of anti-government protesters on Monday.

Before school started, students, many wearing masks, joined hands shouting ‘Hong Kong people, add oil’ – a rallying cry of encouragement for the protest.

Alan Leong, an alumnus of Wah Yan College in Hong Kong’s Kowloon city, said the human chain is the strongest to showcase how the ongoing protest is deep-rooted in society.

“It has been so deep-rooted that it has entered through the school students,” said Yan.

The students called on Hong Kong authorities to respond to their promises of freedom, human rights and rule of law.

Meanwhile, university students have also been expected to join the human chain protests. (Agencies)
