KATHMANDU: A 37-year-old cyclist from Pokhara’s Lakeside has arrived in Hetauda with his 10-year-old son as part of their goal to complete a Mechi-Mahakali cycling journey.
Simon and his son, Gabriel, began their journey from Kakarbhitta on August 1 and reached Hetauda on the seventh day. They were welcomed by Raj Thapa Magar, chairperson of Himalayan Riders Society Hetauda, along with other members of the society.
Simon said he had been cycling since childhood and decided to undertake the journey with his son after Gabriel expressed a desire to cycle across the country.
Gabriel, a Grade 4 student at Shubhakamana School in Pokhara, is accompanying his father throughout the journey. Simon said they have not set a fixed deadline but expect to complete the Mechi-Mahakali route in around 15 to 20 days.
The father-son duo continued their journey towards Chitwan on Saturday.
