Dashain recipe: How to prepare mutton pakku?



Mutton pakku is a delicious recipe especially served during Dashain. Mutton meat is something that is most popular in entire Nepal, among all the cultural, social and ethnic groups.

Preparing mutton dishes is one of the most required items on the menu when you invite anyone for lunch or dinner and if they, as well as you, happen to be non-vegetarian then a mutton item is expected of a host to cater to the guests during the meal.

Here are the necessary ingredients to make delicious: mutton meat must be little in big size compared to the normal bite-size, cloves and cardamom powder, cumin and coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, mustard oil, salt to taste and bay leaf.

Now let’s begin. First keep the meat in a bowl and all the spices turmeric powder, cumin-coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and mustard oil except cloves & cardamom powder. Now, mix it well and leave it aside for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, heat cooker and add oil. Add bay leaf the add meat and stir it. Cook it for 15 minutes putting its lid on in small flame. Then, stir it and put the cover of the cooker and wait for 3-4 whistles. At last, add cloves and cardamom powder and give good mix. Now your mutton pakku is ready to be served.
