Coronavirus hotspot Bhulke facing shortage of daily essentials

UDAYAPUR: Bhulke of Triyuga municipality-3 in Udaypur is facing a severe shortage of daily essentials with the local administration’s decision to seal the area for preventing the further risk of COVID-19 spread.

The shortage of daily essentials ranging from edible oil, salt, rice, cooking gas to detergent soaps has hit the people’s life. The area known as the ‘new epicenter’ of COVID-19 in the country has been sealed off for the past two weeks.

Local Yadu Prasad Dhakal said they were already run out of daily essentials and could not go outside the settlement to purchase such goods. The stock of foodstuff that earlier poor and workers were provided in relief has already finished.

Though some villagers have the stock of unprocessed food materials like rice and mustard seeds, the stock seems useless for them as processing mills remain closed.

”The local groceries have already run out of stock. We are unable to even feed livestock,” complained another local Kumar Bhattarai.

Geeta Thapa shared that they were likely to face a severe hunger very soon. ”It will be a great relief for us if at least a rice mill is made to open.”

However, Triyuga municipality mayor Baladev Chaudhary said,” Relief packages are coming to prevent the risk of hunger in the village.”
