NCP Standing Committee meeting at 11 am today



KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party is taking place at the central party office in Dhumbarahi to continue deliberation on the political dossier at 11 am on Thursday.

Twelve standing committee members and some invited members put forth their views on the political report and suggested some amendment to the proposal yesterday.

They suggested the strengthening of party organization, correction of political thoughts and behavior, implementation of work plans and effectiveness of government.

In addition to the political report and proposal on statute amendment, Nepal-India border dispute and agenda for forthcoming central committee meeting featured in the ongoing standing committee meeting.

The proposal of statute amendment has mentioned people’s democracy oriented to socialism as the party’s immediate plan of action, while scientific socialism as a long term plan of action.

Leaders in the meeting also appeared divided over the issue of Millennium Challenge Corporate – a bilateral United States foreign aid agency established by the U.S. Congress in 2004.
