KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that Nepal is currently facing one of the most uncertain periods in its history, stressing that all stakeholders must engage in serious self-examination and move forward responsibly.
Writing on Facebook, Bhattarai warned that “history will not forgive anyone” if individuals and institutions fail to reflect on their roles in the current situation.
He emphasized that this is not the moment for power struggles or disputes over privileges, stating that when the house is on fire, people should not argue over “who will sleep in the big room or who will eat the biggest portion.” Instead, he said, the focus should be on extinguishing the fire and rebuilding.
“Nepal and the Nepali nation, state, society, economy, democracy, security, culture, and morale are probably in the weakest, most unstable, and uncertain state in history,” Bhattarai wrote. “This is the time for everyone to unite with a resolve to put out the fire and build a new, more beautiful home.”
