Maoist Center, Unified Socialist to unite on November 6

KATHMANDU: The Maoist Center, the CPN (Unified Socialist), and other allied parties are scheduled to unite on November 6.

The decision was taken during the Secretariat meeting of the Maoist Center held at Parisdanda on Sunday.

Party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said the central committee meeting on Nobember 4 will address organizational and policy matters, while a joint meeting will focus on the unification process. The unification will be formally announced following the joint meeting with the parties involved, including the Unified Socialist.

“Our central committee meeting is set for November 4, and a joint convention with the Unified Socialists and other parties will also be held on the same day,” Sapkota stated.

The meeting also discussed preparations for registering a new party with the Election Commission after the unification, addressing political, ideological, and organizational matters.

However, Secretariat member Janardan Sharma boycotted Sunday’s meeting. Sharma had publicly expressed disagreement in Saturday’s meeting over moving forward with party unity under coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Spokesperson Sapkota described Sharma’s actions as “against party discipline and anarchy” and said the party would take necessary action. “He presented his views yesterday but left before listening to other leaders. We consider that approach unacceptable,” he added.

The Maoist Center emphasized that it is preparing to register a new party and proceed to a joint convention after achieving ideological, policy, and organizational unity with parties including the Unified Socialist party.
