KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli on Sunday held an interaction with editors in Kathmandu, his first public dialogue with the media since the Gen-Z protests.
Speaking at a program held at a party palace in Koteshwor, Oli accused some media outlets and editors of having a role in the nationwide violence that took place on September 24. He suggested that editors should also engage in self-reflection over their involvement.
“Others have done self-criticism; perhaps the editors should too,” Oli remarked. “Those who helped lay the foundation for that destruction, have they done any self-assessment or not?”
Expressing dissatisfaction over being portrayed as arrogant and ego-driven, he said, “You often say, ‘Look at his arrogance.’ But this is not arrogance. I simply speak the truth.”
Oli further claimed that youths and students were misled during the Gen-Z movement. “The Gen-Z were deceived and misguided, yet they joined the protests,” he said. “I, too, have been fighting for good governance and against corruption.”
