KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand said the prevention of corruption was not possible until citizens became aware of it.
Speaking at an interaction program organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday by an organization called the Mission Nepal, the former Prime Minister said stopping of corruption was not possible in the existing situation. “The situation demands a candidate for the post of a ward chair for spending Rs 10 million during the election and how can we imagine for fighting corruption in this context,” he questioned.
On the occasion, he underlined the need of making the people aware of this malpractice, encouraging them to take steps against it.
He took time to claim the principle of inclusion was interpreted differently in the country, adding that its current practice was capable of bringing division among the individuals instead of promoting unity, humanity, and equality. Mission Nepal’s chair KP Sharma said the objective of the organization was to make people conscious in accordance with the spirit of the federal democratic republic system.
On occasion, 25 people from different walks of life were honored in recognition of their contributions to the social sector.
