Unified Socialist defends Madhav Nepal: ‘He is clean, case politically motivated’



KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has strongly defended party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal in the wake of a corruption case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) related to illegal land transactions by Patanjali in Kavrepalanchok district.

Following a high-level discussion at the party’s central office in Aloknagar, leaders concluded that Nepal committed no wrongdoing during his tenure as prime minister and labelled the charges as politically driven.

Party spokesperson Prakash Jwala stated, “Madhav Nepal has never been involved in any act of corruption. His image is spotless. This case has been filed with prejudice and vengeance.”

Jwala further claimed that the party would launch both legal and political resistance. “We will fight this in court and are confident that the judiciary will give him a clean chit. This case will not stand,” he said.

He urged party members not to be swayed by the charges, emphasizing that the party remains united and active. “This will not weaken our party. We will continue to move forward with the same energy. We have already consulted with legal experts, and we believe this case will collapse in court,” he added.

The CIAA filed charges against Nepal and 92 others for their alleged involvement in facilitating illegal land transactions favoring Patanjali Yogpeeth Nepal, a company led by Indian nationals Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.
