Govt allocates Rs 13 billion to tourism and aviation

KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 13.28 billion to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget, signaling a strong focus on boosting the tourism and aviation sectors.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel announced this while presenting the budget in a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Thursday.

Highlighting key infrastructure projects, Minister Paudel emphasized the fast-tracking of Nijgadh International Airport construction to address the growing passenger pressure at Tribhuvan International Airport.

He also mentioned plans to enhance the operations of other international airports, including Pokhara, while upgrading regional airports such as Bhadrapur in Jhapa, Tarigaun in Dang, and expanding Surkhet Airport.

The substantial budget allocation aims to improve airport infrastructure and services, supporting Nepal’s tourism growth and increasing connectivity across the country.
