KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is set to hold a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to clarify his position regarding the ongoing ‘visit visa’ scandal.
Despite attempting to address Parliament on both Tuesday and Wednesday in response to mounting questions about alleged corruption at the airport immigration office, continuous obstruction by opposition parties has prevented him from speaking. As a result, Lekhak has opted to make his statement public through a media briefing.
According to a member of his secretariat, Lekhak had hoped to respond directly in the House but was left with no alternative due to the persistent disruptions. The press conference will be held at Lhotse Hall within the Parliament building premises, where he is expected to provide his explanation on the visit visa issue.
“The press meet is being arranged at Lhotse Hall since Parliament is not providing space for a formal response,” said an official from Lekhak’s office. The exact timing of the press conference has yet to be confirmed and will be announced depending on the situation.
