Prabhuram Sharma in line to head Nepal Army



KATHMANDU: With an addition of a service period, Nepal Army Major General Prabhuram Sharma is in line to head the national army.

A recent meeting of Council of Ministers had extended his service period by one year, two months and 15 days.

Lieutenant General Gaurav Tandul will retire on May 1. Likewise, Lieutenant General Sharad Giri is getting compulsory retirement on June 20. With their retirements, Sharma will be second in the rank after the incumbent Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa.

Thapa is retiring of September 9, 2021. It is said that Thapa forwarded Sharma as his successor.
