Over 2,500 drivers booked in Kathmandu for traffic violations



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has taken action against 2,598 drivers in a single day for violating traffic rules.

According to the office, the enforcement drive resulted in the collection of Rs 1,786,501 in revenue for the state.

Among those penalized, 199 drivers were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, 167 for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 120 for signal violations, and 168 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 120 drivers were fined for not maintaining lane discipline, 126 for unnecessary horn usage in restricted zones, 156 for illegal roadside parking, and 186 for driving on one-way roads.

In addition, 1,356 drivers were penalized for various other traffic rule violations, according to traffic police.

Authorities said the drive was part of ongoing efforts to improve road discipline and ensure safer traffic management across the Kathmandu Valley.
