One killed in tractor accident in Baglung

BAGLUNG: A tractor accident in Baglung district has claimed the life of one person.

The incident occurred last night at Pyangkhola in Dhorpatan Municipality–5, when a tractor (Ga 1 Ta 6980) traveling from Bobang towards Burtibang Bazaar via the alternative route of the Beni–Dhorpatan road section met with an accident.

According to the District Police Office, the tractor was heading towards Burtibang when it veered off the road and fell approximately 50 meters below the roadway.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Ashish Gharti, a resident of Chamiduwar in Dhorpatan Municipality–6, who was driving the vehicle.

Chief of the Area Police Office Burtibang, Inspector Tilak Manandhar, said the driver’s body was found about 70 meters below the accident site.

He said the accident occurred around 1:00 am, and police were informed shortly after the incident. Rescue operations faced difficulties due to the late-night timing and difficult terrain.

“The body was recovered after a search operation at the site. We initially searched considering the possibility of other passengers, but it was later confirmed that only the driver was inside the tractor,” Inspector Manandhar said.

Police have recovered the body from the cliff, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
