Maoist leader Gurung demands judicial probe into Pokhara Airport irregularities

KASKI: General Secretary of Maoist Center, Dev Prasad Gurung, has called for a judicial investigation into the alleged irregularities in the construction of Pokhara International Airport.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Center Nepal Kaski in Pokhara on Friday, Gurung said that the recent report submitted by the parliamentary subcommittee warrants a judicial probe involving legal experts, engineers, technicians, and researchers.

“The parliamentary committee has submitted a policy-level report on the Pokhara Airport. Based on that, a judicial investigation must be carried out to identify those responsible and hold them accountable,” he stated.

Gurung also commented on the current coalition government led by the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, saying the Maoist Center will support good initiatives but will not hesitate to speak out against ineffective governance.

“We do not follow traditional political patterns. Our support or criticism depends on the government’s actions. Even with two major parties in power, good governance has not been achieved,” he remarked.

He further emphasized the importance of unity among the peace process stakeholders to resist regressive conspiracies and protect national sovereignty and independence.
