Maoist Center to resume Terai-Madhes Campaign after FSU elections

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) is set to resume its ‘Terai-Madhes Awakening Campaign’ following the completion of the Free Student Union (FSU) elections.

The campaign had been temporarily halted as party leaders returned to Kathmandu after receiving reports of a royalist street protest planned for March 9.

The campaign was put on hold after concluding a program in Rautahat, but according to party General Secretary Dev Gurung, it will now continue from where it left off.

The Maoist Center has been running this campaign as part of its efforts to expand its political influence with a focus on the 2084 BS elections.

“We have planned to resume the campaign after the student elections, but no final decision has been made yet,” Gurung told Khabarhub. “We will complete our mission by taking the campaign all the way to Kanchanpur as per the revised schedule.”

After completing the Terai-Madhes Awakening Campaign, the Maoist Center plans to launch another campaign in April 2025, focusing on the Mid-Hill Highway and running across the east-west corridor.
