Kulman Ghising denounces Ministry’s clarification request as unjust and biased
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising has submitted an explanation to Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka, contesting the legitimacy of the ministry’s demand for clarification.
This marks the third time Ghising has been asked to provide an explanation, with the ministry insisting on a response within 24 hours after finding his previous replies unsatisfactory.
Minister Khadka demanded a detailed report on Ghising’s performance, stating that earlier justifications were neither objective nor convincing.
Fire destroys four buildings near Rara Lake
A fire broke out at a hotel near Rara Lake last night, destroying four wooden buildings.
The blaze, which started in the hotel’s kitchen and spread after a gas cylinder explosion, caused significant damage to three nearby structures.
Hotel staff, along with personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force, successfully extinguished the fire this morning.
Four arrested at TIA with nearly four kg of gold hidden in anus
Police have arrested four individuals with approximately four kilograms of illegal gold at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Among those detained is an Uzbek national who arrived in Nepal on a Fly Dubai flight at 9 pm on Wednesday. Authorities discovered 3.745 kilograms of gold hidden in the individual’s anus, according to the police report.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Akhmad Janovna Dilfuza Marifaliyev, Izrailovna Saodat Fejiva, Gulamdjanovna Umid Akhmedov, and Sardor Trusanov.
Home Minister resumes talks amid tensions over Pathibhara cable car project
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has resumed discussions with Members of Parliament (MPs) from Koshi Province following rising tensions over the proposed cable car project at the Pathibhara temple in Taplejung.
The IME Group’s plan to construct a cable car in the Pathibhara area, known as Mukkumlung by the indigenous communities, has sparked controversy, leading the government to temporarily suspend the project.
On Thursday, Minister Lekhak held talks with MPs representing the Koshi districts in the federal parliament at Singha Durbar. MP Urmila Thebe confirmed the meeting, noting that the discussions did not include representatives from the ‘No Cable Car Group,’ which has been actively protesting the project.
Circular issued to provide residential doctors with government-level service benefits
Kathmandu University (KU) has sent a letter to provide residential doctors with service benefits equivalent to those of government doctors.
The Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences issued a circular to 10 private medical colleges affiliated with the university, instructing them to provide allowances equivalent to the eighth level of government health services.
On 25th Magh, during the 16th meeting of the Medical Education Commission, it was decided to provide allowances to doctors studying at private medical colleges equivalent to those received by government doctors.
