Joint taskforce formed for sustainable utilization of Karnali river resources

KATHMANDU: A joint recommendation taskforce has been established to address challenges related to the utilization and conservation of Karnali River resources between Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

The taskforce was formed under the coordination of the Secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Lumbini Province following a joint dialogue between the Chief Ministers of both provinces on Wednesday.

The taskforce includes secretaries from the Sudurpaschim provincial government, representatives from the Forest Ministries of both provinces, local governments connected to the river basin, national parks, and the Survey Office, among others.

The committee’s primary role is to identify inter-governmental issues and provide prioritized recommendations along with possible solutions for effective resource management and conservation.
