IGP Kuwar leaves for UK



KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Bahadur Kuwar left for the United Kingdom this morning (Sunday) to participate in the 92nd General Assembly of Interpol.

According to the Police Headquarters, Kuwar is attending the General Assembly organized by the Interpol General Secretariat, taking place in Glasgow.

Accompanying IGP Kuwar are Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Anjani Kumar Pokharel and Chief Superintendent of Police Komal Shah from the Interpol Branch.

The General Assembly will be attended by representatives from all 196 Interpol member states and includes provisions for voting on important policy issues.

Key discussions at the General Assembly will cover cooperation agreements between Interpol and the World Health Organization (WHO), counter-terrorism strategies, enhancing Interpol’s analytical capabilities, addressing websites publishing child sexual abuse material, legal frameworks for cooperation with private organizations, and proposed amendments to Interpol’s Constitution.

Additionally, there will be discussions on Interpol’s building expansion and reconstruction programs, along with elections for vacant positions on the Executive Committee.
