20th Asian Games: Nepal’s Judo Player Punam Shrestha eliminated



KATHMANDU: Nepali judo player Punam Shrestha has been knocked out of the 20th Asian Games being held in Japan.

Competing in the women’s under-70 kg category at the Aichi International Arena on Thursday, Shrestha lost to her Indian opponent, ending her campaign in the tournament.

With Shrestha’s elimination, Nepal has now been knocked out of five of the seven judo categories in which it is competing at the Asian Games.

Four other Nepali judokas were eliminated in the first round of their respective events on Wednesday.

Nepal’s Sujan Gurung is competing in the men’s under-90 kg category on Thursday. The Nepali team will also take part in the mixed team event.
