Bomb threats to 20 Indian planes, impact felt in Nepal as well

Indian airlines have been receiving a series of bomb threats, impacting major carriers like Indigo and Vistara.

These threats have intensified in recent days, with both airlines receiving bomb warnings on 10 separate flights on Tuesday alone.

In recent days, numerous calls and emails have been made targeting Indian airlines, issuing threats to blow up flights, especially international routes.

No bomb found on Vistara Airlines flight, airport reopens

The bomb disposal unit of the Nepal Army conducted a thorough search of the plane and found no bomb.

The aircraft, with call sign UK 155, landed in Kathmandu at 4:30 PM. After receiving a bomb threat, all passengers were safely evacuated, and security personnel searched the plane.

The bomb alert was reportedly sent via WhatsApp, but after confirming the absence of any explosives, airport operations resumed as normal.

Maoist-affiliated students burn effigy of PM Oli in protest 

The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist-affiliated student wing, All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) or ANNISU (R), burned an effigy of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening.

The students held a torch rally as part of their ongoing protest against the government.

The protest, organized in front of Tri-Chandra Campus, was aimed at criticizing the government’s handling of disaster management, including delays in rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts.

Baburam led-party to be renamed as Naya Shakti

The first statute convention of the Nepal Samajwadi Party, led by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, has been successfully completed.

Held in Pokhara, the convention has decided to hold a general convention in Kathmandu from February 7 to 9.

During the constitutional convention, the party also resolved to change its name and flag. The new name will be Naya Shakti.

Govt protecting corrupts while targeting opposition: Prachanda

Chairman of Maoist Center and leader of the main opposition party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has accused the government of prioritizing its own survival while targeting rivals under the guise of good governance.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prachanda expressed concerns over the government’s shortcomings in promoting genuine governance.

The meeting was convened in preparation for a protest rally scheduled for October 26 in Kathmandu.

Gold and silver prices reach new record highs

Gold and silver prices have reached new record highs today, continuing a trend of increases over the past six days.

Both precious metals have broken previous records, with gold hitting an all-time high.

Since last Wednesday, the prices have surged significantly. On Tuesday, gold rose by Rs 300, and today it stands at Rs 165,900 per tola.

Complaint filed against RSP lawmakers for obstructing court proceedings

A complaint has been lodged at the District Police Range Kathmandu against nine lawmakers from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for allegedly obstructing court proceedings.

The complaint, filed by Yuvraj Safal Paudel, a self-identified social activist, calls for a three-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 30,000 for the lawmakers under sub-section (4) of section (50) of the Criminal Code 2074 (2017).

In the complaint, Paudel accused RSP lawmakers of obstructing court proceedings after a parliamentary inquiry committee recommended the arrest of RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane in connection with a cooperative scam. He claims RSP lawmakers have issued mandatory attendance notices to party workers in Pokhara, instructing them to join protests—an action Paudel argues violates the Criminal Code.

Medicity sued for 50 million over alleged medical negligence leading to patient’s death

A lawsuit has been filed against Medicity Hospital in Lalitpur following the death of a patient, Gyan Prasad Rimal, from Banasthali, Kathmandu, who was undergoing treatment.

The patient’s family is demanding compensation of Rs 50 million, alleging that medical negligence and the administration of incorrect medication led to his death.

Rimal, who had been residing in the United States, returned to Nepal for heart treatment and kidney dialysis. He was admitted to Medicity Hospital on September 17 but passed away on September 20.

Speaker urges parliamentary committees to submit pending Bills in next session

Speaker Devraj Ghimire has directed parliamentary committees to submit all pending bills in the upcoming Parliament session.

The instruction was issued during a meeting held at the Speaker’s office in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, where the chairpersons of various parliamentary committees, along with the chief whips and whips of major political parties, were present.

During the meeting, Speaker Ghimire expressed concern over the status of bills pending in different committees and stressed the importance of moving them forward.
