India provides IRS 80.71 crore to Nepal for Postal Highway construction



KATHMANDU: The Indian government on Wednesday handed over a check amounting IRs 80.71 crore to the Nepal Government for the construction of Postal Highway in the districts of the Terai.

The check amount is a part of the Government of India’s commitment of INR 500 crore towards strengthening road infrastructure in Nepal Terai region. Four road packages are ready for inauguration.

Likewise, India also handed over a check of NPR 2.45 billion towards reimbursement to the government of Nepal for housing reconstruction in Nuwakot and Gorkha Districts during the 5th JCM held in Kathmandu.

The handing over of the checks has been carried out during the visit of India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who arrived in Kathmandu this afternoon, for the Fifth Meeting of Nepal-India Joint Commission which began in Kathmandu today.
