Dengue cases surpass 11,000 in Bagmati Province



BAGMATI: Dengue fever cases continue to surge in Bagmati Province, with over 11,000 confirmed cases reported in the past nine months.

According to the Health Directorate of Bagmati Province, a total of 11,409 cases have been diagnosed since the commencement of the current fiscal year 2080-81 BS, which began on July 17, 2023.

Uttam Prasad Pyakurel, the focal person of the Directorate, revealed that Dhading recorded the highest number of cases at 3,501, while Rasuwa reported the lowest at two.

Among other districts, Kathmandu reported 3,000 cases, followed by 1,708 in Chitwan, 857 in Makwanpur, 494 in Bhaktapur, 167 in Kavrepalanchowk, 81 in Nuwakot, 79 in Dolakha, 32 in Sindhupalchowk, 27 in Ramechhap, and 23 in Sindhuli.

Tragically, one death due to dengue was reported in Makwanpur during the current fiscal year.

With the heightened risk of dengue infection during summer, the Health Office advises everyone to take preventive measures.

The Health Office is gearing up to launch a campaign aimed at identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding sites to curb the spread of dengue, a viral illness transmitted by mosquito bites.
