KATHMANDU: Four Pakistani citizens have been arrested for detaining Sri Lankan citizens in a hotel in Nepal, allegedly promising to facilitate their journey to Europe.
According to the accusations, they held the Sri Lankan citizens captive in a hotel in Nepal after bringing them from Sri Lanka, promising to arrange their employment in countries like Canada, Romania, and Greece.
The police accused them of forcibly confining the Sri Lankan citizens, intimidating them, restricting their communication with their families, and seizing their cash.
The arrested Pakistani nationals are Juber Amjad, Shahjehan Tanvir, Malik Abdul Hamid, and Arif Masih.
Earlier, Indian nationals were arrested for similar charges involving Bangladeshi citizens in Nepal, promising to transport them to Europe.
