Social Security Fund disburses over Rs 8 billion to contributors



KATHMANDU: The Social Security Fund has disbursed more than Rs 8 billion to contributors under various schemes.

As of last Thursday, the Fund has made payments totaling Rs 8.48 billion to 135,843 contributors. The highest payment was made under the old age security scheme, amounting to over Rs 7.25 billion.

Additionally, over Rs 980 million was disbursed for medical treatment, health, and maternity schemes, while Rs 110 million went towards accident and disability security, and over Rs 130 million for dependent family protection, according to Fund Spokesperson Bibek Panthi.

A total of 135,843 contributors have availed themselves of facilities under various schemes from the Fund. Panthi also mentioned that the Fund has collected Rs 52.63 billion in contributions to date.

There are 1,257,799 workers from various sectors registered with the Fund, including formal, informal, foreign employment, and self-employment. It is mandatory for workers going abroad to register with the Fund.

Currently, there are 18,819 affiliated employers with the Fund.
