CG Holdings Chairman Arun Chaudhary arrested for alleged land grab at Bansbari Leather Shoe Industry

Arun Chaudhary, Chairman of CG Holdings, has been arrested on charges of unlawfully seizing 10 ropani of land within the premises of the Bansbari Leather Shoe Industry in Kathmandu. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police executed the arrest at Chaudhary’s Lazimpat residence. AIG Kiran Bajracharya, head of the CIB, disclosed that Ajit Narayan Thapa, the former Board Chairman of Bansbari Leather Footwear Industry, was also taken into custody from his residence in Battisputali, following Chaudhary’s arrest.

The Kathmandu district court has granted permission for the detention of Arun Chaudhary, a businessman implicated in a land embezzlement case, and Ajit Narayan Thapa, the former executive head of Bansbari Leather Footwear Industry, for a period of four days.

NEB opens applications for amendment of names, ages, and castes in educational certificates

The Nepal Education Board (NEB) has announced a provision for students seeking corrections in their educational certificates, specifically pertaining to names, ages, and castes. This opportunity is extended to students whose details did not match in certificates for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and +2 levels. In a recent notice issued by the NEB, students who received certificates before the year 2075 BS are encouraged to submit applications for the necessary amendments in names, ages, and castes.

Tribhuvan Army secures PM Cup finals berth beating Gandaki Province by 68 runs 

In a commanding performance, Tribhuvan Army Club clinched a spot in the finals of the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Tournament 2024 by defeating Gandaki Province by 68 runs on Thursday. After winning the toss, Tribhuvan Army opted to bat first, posting a total of 132 runs, with Imran Sheikh contributing the highest with 34 runs and Sompal Kami adding 23 runs to the team’s total.

Govt appoints Yadav as NPC member

The government has appointed Uma Shankar Prasad Yadav from Rautahat as the National Planning Commission (NPC) member. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today at the Singha Durbar took a decision to appoint Yadav on the NPC vacant post.

Bikram Rai appointed vice-chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation

Bikram Rai has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held earlier today, as announced by Rekha Sharma, Minister for Communication and Information Technology. Additionally, the meeting endorsed the appointments of Lekhnath Lama and Dr. Sahara Shrestha as members of Nardevi Ayurvedic Hospital.

Rs 80 million allocated to upgrade Ganeshman road

Ganeshman route (Thankot-Chitlang road section) has been inspected after the Finance Ministry allocated budget for its upgrade. The Finance Ministry at the special request of Mayor of Chandragiri municipality had, on January 26, allocated Rs 80 million to forward upgrading activities of the route immediately.

39,000 drivers face action for drunk driving in six months

Police took action against 39,272 individuals driving under the influence of alcohol, with an additional 242 prosecuted for driving under the influence of drugs in the last six months. According to Bhim Prasad Dhakal, the Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, the stringent measures have not only ensured public safety but also generated four crores rupees in revenue from actions against offenders.
