Maha Shivaratri: 171-member main ceremony committee formed



KATHMANDU: A 171-member main ceremony committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Anil Kumar Sinha, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Pashupati Area Development Fund, to prepare for Maha Shivaratri 2082.

The committee formed to oversee preparations for this year’s Maha Shivaratri festival includes representatives from concerned bodies, including Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Ward No. 8 Office. The Pashupati Area Development Trust stated that the committee will coordinate all preparations for the festival in the Pashupati area.

The Trust’s Executive Director and spokesperson, Subhash Chandra Joshi, said that nine thematic sub-committees have been formed under the main ceremony committee to carry out preparations for Maha Shivaratri. He said work is already underway in the Pashupati area.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the security sub-committee under the main ceremony committee was held on Friday. The meeting, chaired by Kathmandu Chief District Officer Ishwor Raj Poudel, was attended by officials from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department. According to Poudel, discussions were held on security arrangements for the festival.
