Local festivals boost tourism in Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: Sports competitions, fairs, and cultural festivals at the local level are playing a key role in promoting tourism in the district. Locals say that the participation of players and enthusiasts from neighboring districts and other parts of the country has positively impacted tourism and local businesses.

Paubadungma Rural Municipality recently hosted the third Paubadung Gold Cup and Maghi Fair, drawing visitors from within and outside the district. The events showcased local products, including agricultural produce, handicrafts, and traditional foods, boosting marketing opportunities and encouraging local farmers and entrepreneurs.

Such festivals and competitions have also contributed to job creation, expanded economic activity, and strengthened the identity of the village. Residents have stressed the need for more systematic and long-term planning for these programs.

A large number of players, coaches, spectators, and sports enthusiasts attended the Gold Cup and Maghi Fair on Friday. Local businessman Dinesh Adhikari noted that the influx of visitors benefited hotels, restaurants, and transportation services. “These events increase the village’s identity and support local businesses,” he said.

The rural municipality has organized the Gold Cup and Maghi Fair for several years to promote domestic tourism alongside sports development. Chairman Kiran Rai stated, “Sports competitions, fairs, and festivals play an important role in promoting tourism. We plan to continue these programs and make them more systematic in the future.”
