KATHMANDU: In a high-stakes encounter at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, Afghanistan has decided to set the tone by opting to bat first against Nepal.
The decision was made after winning the toss at the Buffalo Park Cricket Ground in East London, South Africa.
This match holds immense significance as it unfolds into a virtual knockout situation for both Afghanistan and Nepal.
With Pakistan and New Zealand already securing two consecutive victories, earning them four points each and securing a coveted spot in the Super Six, this clash between Afghanistan and Nepal becomes pivotal for their progression in the tournament.
The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup has introduced a new format for this edition.
The three teams advancing from each of the four groups will enter a fresh Super Six stage starting on January 30.
In this stage, two groups of six teams will compete to determine the Semi-Finalists and subsequently, the Finalists.
Meanwhile, the bottom-placed teams will engage in placement games to ascertain finishing positions ranging from 13 to 16.
The stage is set for an intense battle as Afghanistan takes on Nepal, each vying for a chance to make their mark in the Super Six and move closer to U19 Cricket World Cup glory.
