KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has announced the election of Dr. Badri KC (Russia) as its newly appointed President following an intense voting process conducted on Thursday.
In a closely watched contest featuring four formidable candidates vying for the position of NRNA President, Dr. Badri KC emerged victorious with a total of 1,378 votes. His opponents, Rajendra Kumar Sharma -RK (Qatar), secured 1,281 votes, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha (Japan) garnered 1,225 votes, while Ravina Thapa (USA) received 47 votes in the election.
In addition to the presidential election, Dr. Binod Shrestha (Australia), Dr. Hemraj Sharma (UK), Khagendra Neupane (Malaysia), Raju Regmi (Qatar), Ramsharan Sinkhada (UK), and Robin Prasad Sherchan (Japan) were all elected as Vice-Presidents of the organization.
Roshan Thapa (Zambia) secured the position of Youth Vice President with total of 2,468 votes, while Rojina Pradhan Rai (UK) clinched the title of Women’s Vice President.
Gauriraj Josi (USA) was elected as the Secretary-General by a significant margin, having secured 2,037 votes.
In a convention held in Kathmandu, the NRNA implemented provisions for overseas Nepali nationals to cast their votes securely through an online platform, further underscoring the organization’s commitment to engaging its global community.
