Emerging Teams Asia Cup: Nepal in the group of India and Pakistan



KATHMANDU: ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup organized by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is going to be held in Sri Lanka.

In the tournament to be held from June 29 to July 7, the Nepal team has been placed in Group B with India, Pakistan, and UAE, according to Durga Pathak, Acting Secretary of CAN.

Along with hosts Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in Group A. The U-23 or A team of Test nations will play in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Nepal, UAE, and Oman, who were in the top three of the ACC Premier Cup held in Nepal last May, got to play in the Emerging Asia Cup represented by Associate.

Five test teams will send their A team. The Nepal team is currently in Zimbabwe for the ODI World Cup qualifiers. Nepal’s team will probably be announced after the World Cup qualifiers.

Nepal played the Emerging Teams Asia Cup three times in 2016, 2017, and 2019. The competition has not been held since 2019.
