Not aspired to be a judge, but embraced responsibility: Acting CJ Karki to Parliamentary Hearing Committee



KATHMANDU: Hari Krishna Karki, the proposed Chief Justice (CJ), has revealed that his appointment as a Supreme Court judge was against his personal wishes.

Speaking before the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Thursday morning, he explained that he accepted the position at the request of the then Chief Justice.

Karki acknowledged that he had not aspired to be a judge, but out of respect for the Chief Justice’s offer, he embraced the responsibility.

He further mentioned that he has been serving as Acting Chief Justice for the past eight months.

Karki informed that he was recommended as a judge on March 1, 2016, and became a judge only on August 1, 2016.

He claimed that since he entered the legal profession in the year 2040 BS, he has fully followed the religion of honesty, integrity and professionalism.

According to him, he has decided 5,586 cases so far.

Karki also asserted his success in curbing 60 percent of judicial deviations.

Describing his comprehensive action plan, he highlighted his achievements in effectively preventing deviations and actively promoting a culture of judicial hygiene.
