KATHMANDU: The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has refused to recognize the much-discussed National Identity Card (NIC) and barred Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice Chairman Dor Prasad (DP) Aryal from flying to India.

TIA source said that Aryal’s national identity card was not valid and the NAC at the Tribhuvan International Airport stopped him from boarding the plane.

Aryal was preparing to go to Bangalore, India by taking a corporate flight at 1:45 in the afternoon.

Deputy Chairman Aryal has expressed surprise that the NIC with biometric details has not been recognized.

On the other hand, NAC spokesperson Ramesh Poudel has clarified that citizenship is mandatory in the case of travel to India.
