Lawmakers urge govt to take measures to open Kimathanka transit point

KATHMANDU: The government’s attention has been drawn to opening the Kimathanka checkpoint along the Nepal-China border in Sankhuwasabha district.

Airing views in a meeting of the House of Representatives today, lawmaker Deepak Khadka said, “Kimathanka point has remained closed. I urge the government to sit for talks with China to proceed towards its opening.”

He also took time to apprise the House of problems in transporting food for Bhotkhola rural municipality which lies in the northern belt of the district during rains. As the lawmaker said, the access road to the rural municipality from the district headquarters Khandbari remains totally disrupted during rains.

In addition to this, the village has no storage facility and over 6,500 people residing there are at constant risk of food crises during the rainy season.

He urged the government to take prompt measures to address the issue.
