US Ambassador Thompson holds ‘courtesy meeting’ with Prachanda



KATHMANDU: US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson held a courtesy meeting with Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Tuesday morning.

The newly-appointed Ambassador US Thompson reached Prachanda’s Khumaltar-based residence and held talks on bilateral issues, according to Prachanda’s secretariat.

During the meeting, the US Ambassador and Prachanda discussed the relationship between the two countries over the years, Nepali politics, and economic development.

During the meeting, Prachanda praised the United States and its people for their role and contribution to Nepal’s development.

Ambassador Thompson said he was happy to come to Nepal, a beautiful country full of natural and cultural diversity.

He also said that their cooperation would continue to achieve the goal of sustainable and inclusive economic development of Nepal.

He believed that the relationship between Nepal and the US would gain new heights during his tenure.
