KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast rainfall during Dashain indicating a wet festival this year.

Monsoon activities are still active across the country, therefore, it is likely that there will be rainfall as the axis of the monsoon trough has slightly shifted from its normal position.

It may be noted that the positioning of the monsoon trough brings rain.

The monsoon is likely to affect the festival mood as the Division has forecasted rainfall on the 4, 5, and 6 of October, i.e. Nawami, Dashami and Ekadashi (9th, 10th and 11th day of Dashain)  as the monsoon is pushed back by at least a week due to the sea storm in the Bay of Bengal.

As the low-pressure area currently developing in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the northwest, monsoon rains will be active as this system will affect Nepal.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of the country on Vijaya Dashami (October 5).

Similarly, on October 4, it is expected to rain in Province 1, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
