Forging electoral alliance is NC’s unanimous decision: Spokesperson Mahat

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said forging electoral alliance with other political parties for the upcoming election to provincial assembly and federal parliament was party’s unanimous decision.

At a news conference here Sunday, Mahat shared that there was no dispute in the party regarding the election-based alliance. “The intraparty disputes would be resolved through the office-bearers and central committee meetings. There is no dispute on contesting the polls by making alliance.”

On the occasion, NC Spokesperson Mahat made it clear that the current coalition will continue until the upcoming elections and asked why the alliance between NC and CPN (Maoist Centre) was unusual if the UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) alliance was usual in the past.

Dr Mahat was of the view that the Maoist Centre could ally with other parties if the NC was there to join hands with the Maoist Centre.

Saying that being more aspirants for the election from the NC was natural, Dr Mahat admitted that it was challenging to accommodate all the aspirants in the party. “Winning more seats for the NC is crucial instead of claiming more seats to contest,” the NC Spokesperson added.
