Coordinator Sitaula tasked with tabling proposals for seat distribution

The ruling coalition task force has entrusted coordinator Krishna Prasad Sitaula with the task of tabling proposals for seat distribution among partners in the upcoming General Elections.

The meeting of the task force held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday entrusted the Nepali Congress leader with coming up with proposals for seat distribution on the basis of performance of the parties in the 2017 general elections and the 2022 local elections.

Task force member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that there has been understanding in the task force to give due consideration to the United Socialist Party that was formed only in 2022 and has no records for the past elections.

Central Command Post formed for election security strategy

A meeting of the Central Security Committee has decided to form a Central Command Post under the convenorship of Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly election.

The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.

The decision to form the command post was taken after discussing the necessary security strategy for and the challenges that might come up in course of the November 20 HoR and provincial assembly elections.

RPP entrusts Chair Lingden with sole authority to decide on electoral strategy

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has given full powers to its Chairman Rajendra Lingden to decide on electoral strategy in the General Elections slated for November 20.

RPP Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said party’s Central Performance Committee meeting held on Monday gave Lingden the sole authority to decide on alliances, coordination or cooperation with other parties in the November elections.

Similarly, the meeting also formed the Central Election Mobilization Committee and the Parliamentary Committee under Lingden.

SC seeks details on actor KC’s appointment as FDB chair

The Supreme Court has sought the documents and details on actor Bhuwan KC’s appointment as the chairman of the Film Development Board (FDB).

A single bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut demanded a written response regarding the appointment from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Film Development Board and KC himself.

A writ was filed against KC’s appointment by five aspirants for the post, including Naresh Paudel, last Friday, stating that KC’s educational qualification was not sufficient for the appointment.

Tiger devours three crocs

A tiger has devoured three Gharial crocodiles at the Chitwan National Park (CNP)’s crocodile breeding center at Kasara.

This is the first incident of its kind here in which the big cat has eaten up crocodile.

A tiger that was injured during a fight with another one ate the crocs, CNP Information Officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari said.

According to him, the injured tiger entered the breeding center by crossing over the shorter portion of the wall from where people used to enter it, after it could not hunt.

Nepal sees 888 new coronavirus cases, one death in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 888 new cases of coronavirus and one death in the past 24 hours as of Monday.

Of the confirmed cases, 427 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 461 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 5,737 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Israel to hire additional 1,000 workers from Nepal

Israel is set to hire an additional 1,000 Nepali workers. This was shared by Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder who called on Minister of Labor Employment and Social Security Sher Bahadur Kunwar at the latter’s office on Monday.

Ambassador Goder and Minister Kunwar discussed the labor agreement between Nepal and Israel during the meeting.

Ambassador Goder informed Minister Kunwar that the Israeli government on Sunday had finalized the hiring of 1,000 additional Nepali workers for agricultural and seasonal work.

NEPSE gains 55.88 points, closes at 2,065.89 

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained massive 55.88 points and closed at 2,065.89 points on Monday after going bearish for the past six days.

The index had disappointed investors and lost 27.92 points on Sunday.

However, the index reignited hope among investors by registering a gain of 2.78 percent on the second trading day of this week.

The index that opened at 2,007.19 points made an intraday low of 2,004.07 and closed at intraday high of 2,065.89 points.
