NC Senior leader Poudel rules out possibility of early election

DHANGADHI: Nepali Congress (NC) Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has ruled out the possibility of holding early elections.

Speaking to the media people at Dhangadhi Airport on Saturday, Poudel said that there is a contradiction in going for early elections now and reiterated on the need to let the parliament work to its full term.

He clarified that going for early elections would not be rational as NC and the parties in ruling alliance had been fighting for the full term of the parliament.

“We fought for the parliament, we had been demanding that parliament should be allowed to work to its full tenure, so the rumors of early elections are baseless,” Poudel said, adding, “Besides, all parties in the ruling alliance had also protested against KP Oli’s dissolution of parliament and they still stick to their points.”

He said that he alerted the party president that NC general convention should not be postponed.

‘Active membership disputes in some districts are still unresolved. The process should be taken forward as soon as possible,” he said, adding, “I have warned party President not to seek any pretext to postpone the convention.”

On Friday alone, Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba returned to Kathmandu after a two-day visit to the Far West.
