Jhapa to have 500-bed hospital



JHAPA: Construction of a 500-bed hospital at Kamal Rural Municipality in Jhapa district has been started aimed at ensuring accessible health care to the people there. The hospital Management has planned to bring Bhrikuti Hospital into operation within a year.

Hospital’s Chairman Buddhiman Thapa said, “Hospital’s services will begin starting 100 beds and we will upgrade to 500 beds after its expansion.”

Thapa said that the new hospital facility will be built with an estimated cost of Rs 1 billion while adding that an agreement on construction has already been signed with the contractor.

With the development of hospital in Kamal Rural Municipality, the people of Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Tehrathum, Morang and other districts of Province 1 are expected to benefit.

Thapa said that they plan to establish the hospital as an accessible health care institution for the economically poor and needy groups and they would be treated in a nominal cost.
