200 households at high risk of landslides in Doti

DOTI: As high as 200 households of Setigaun in Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-8 in the district of Doti are at high risk of landslides taking place for the past couple of days.

Chairman of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-8 Ram Bahadur Khadka said that the landslides taking place continuously even after slight rain has panicked the locals. He stated that the entire village is prone to landslides if a heavy rain occurs.

The local residents have expressed their displeasure to the authorities for their apathy to unveil measures for the control and prevention of the landslides.

The entire village is awaiting relocation because of uncontrolled landslides, said Tirmalsingh Kunjeda, a local resident. “It could cause a huge loss if relocation of the local people was delayed,” he warned.

Furthermore, the drinking water supply and irrigation canals have been washed away in the landslides, making the locals’ lives further difficult.
