Monsoon conditions persist, rain likely today



KATHMANDU: Monsoon conditions continue to influence weather across Nepal, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology forecasting rainfall in most parts of the country today.

According to the Department, skies remain generally cloudy over Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while Madhesh Province is experiencing partly cloudy conditions.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is currently occurring in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy nationwide. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions, while light to moderate snowfall is possible in parts of the high Himalayan region. Some areas of the Terai are also likely to receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.

Similar weather conditions are expected tonight, with generally cloudy skies across the country. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecast for some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of Karnali, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is also likely in some hilly and Tarai areas.

The Department has urged residents to remain alert, as one or two places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces may experience heavy rainfall.
