Civil Aviation Ministry requests Nepal Airlines staff to stop agitation

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has requested the employees of Nepal Airlines to stop the agitation immediately.

Writing a letter to the agitating staffs on Wednesday, the Ministry has urged the employees of Nepal Airlines to stop the protest as it can lead to deprivation of the salary the employees have been receiving.

The employees have been protesting against the government arguing the proposed transformation of Nepal Airlines will ruin the national flag-bearer.

They have even barred General Manager Dim Prasad Poudel from entering the office.

The ministry has asked to stop the agitation saying that the release of salary and allowance of the employees has been affected as the meeting of the board of directors could not be held.

The Ministry’s Wednesday letter has also reminded that the current process of changing the modality of Airlines has been postponed until further notice from the Government of Nepal.

It has reiterated that it has no plans to privatize Nepal Airlines.
