KATHMANDU: Five people have died due to floods and inundations induced by late monsoon called ‘Bhadaure Jhari’ in various parts of the country.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, two died in Nawalparasi and one each in Dang, Udayapur and in Kailali.
The deceased have been identified as Binod Pasi, 38, of Ramgram-16, Pamphapur and his son Pradip, 13, of Nawalparasi. They were on their way to a relative’s house for shelter after the house was flooded on Friday night. The identities of the remaining three are yet to be ascertained.
The bodies of the two were found in a field near their house. Orissa Tamang of Sunwal-13, who went out to save her life after the floods, has gone missing.
Similarly, three people are missing in Nawalpur and one in Rupandehi districts.
More than 1,500 houses have been inundated in Mahottari, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Nawalparasi and Rupandehi districts.
The district headquarters Parasi has been the hardest-hit by the floods.
The late monsoon locally called “Bhadaure Jhari” has affected the people’s lives across the country due to floods, landslides and inundation.
The weather is likely to improve from today, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
