Concerns over snail-paced progress of national pride projects



KATHMANDU: Parliamentary National Concern and Coordination Committee has decided to seek information with the concerned ministry relating to the status of four major projects.

Chairperson of the Committee Dilkumari Rawal stated that they would seek information on Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, Melamchi Drinking Water Project, Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhes Expressway, and People’s Housing Program with the concerned ministry.

Member of the committee Surendra Raj Pandey maintained that the Melamchi project, which is one of the national pride projects, has not gained pace because the government’s apathy.

He said that the project is waiting for the government’s decision to expedite it.

Likewise, committee member Jivan Bahadur Budha stated that the timeline of some major projects look like a game for fun.

Khimlal Bhattarai said only 30 per cent of Lumbini Development Perspective Plan was due for implementation.
