KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the mandatory retirement granted to Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Force (APF) Prabin Kumar Shrestha.
A single bench of Justice Anil Kumar Sinha Sunday ordered the government to halt the decision of granting mandatory retirement to APF DIG Shrestha. The SC called both the parties for discussion on July 28 before issuing an interim order.
APF had issued a letter to DIG Shrestha stating his tenure was over and he had been granted mandatory retirement on June 25, 2021. DIG Shrestha moved the SC against the APF decision.
Regarding APF Inspector General’s recommendation to the Home Ministry on extending DIG Shrestha’s tenure by a year, the Supreme Court said discussion was needed on the action taken by the Home Ministry and the reasons for not extending his tenure.
