Nepal floods: 15 dead, 25 missing, 11 injured in past four days



KATHMANDU: Fifteen people have perished in the floods and landslides that hit the Himalayan nation in the last four days.

According to the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, 15 people died in the landslides and floods that occurred in various places of the country from June 14 to 18 (midnight).

Similarly, 25 people have gone missing in the floods while 11 people sustained injuries, informed Dil Bahadur Tamang, the chief of the Center.

According to Center, three people died in Sindhupalchowk floods and one each in Saptari, Kavrepalanchowk, Kaski, Arghakhanchi, Gorkha and Bajura.

Similarly, three people died in Doti and one each in Palpa, Kalikot and Jumla.

Likewise, 25 people have gone missing in the landslides and floods.

Of them, the highest 15 people have gone missing in Sindhupalchowk, followed by Bajura with seven and one each in Rupandehi, Pyuthan and Bajura, said the Center.

Six people have sustained injuries in Sindhupalchowk and two each in Jumla and Doti and one got injured in Syangja.

Out of 77 districts in the country, 22 districts have been seriously hit by the monsoon-induced floods and landslides while minor impact has been witnessed in other 32 districts, according to Bednidhi Khanal, the spokesperson at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Similarly, 129 houses have been fully damaged and 114 houses have sustained partial damages due to floods and landslides.

Eighty people have been rescued safely in Sindhupalchowk.
