KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) office-bearers’ meeting has concluded without any concrete resolution on power-sharing at the central party headquarters in Balkumari Tuesday.

The meeting was convened to dwell on a new power sharing. However, office-bearers could not reach a clear mandate on whether to extend support to the incumbent government or back someone else.

JSP is a key player in Nepal’s current political equation as it could be the ultimate decider for change in government.

The Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Center) have sought JSP’s official stance to form an alternative coalition government.

JSP Central Council Chairman Mahantha Thakur, Federal Council Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman Upendra Yadav, leaders Rajendra Mahato, Rajendra Shrestha and Ashok Rai have been divided on power-sharing agreements.

The division in the party has led to indecision and the same has contributed to the continuation of the incumbent government.

Federal Council Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattaram left the meeting earlier after proposing to register a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Oli.

Thakur and Mahato are in favor of PM Oli while Yadav and Bhattarai are against Oli. The latter are of the view that a no-confidence motion should be registered against Oli immediately.
