332 foreigners deported for illegal activities: Immigration Department

KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has repatriated over 300 foreigners for their involvement in illegal activities in the country.

The Department of Immigration deported as many 332 foreigners from 20 countries after they were found to have been involved in various illegal activities in the year 2020.

Those repatriated were found to have been involved in 17 various activities ranging from gold smuggling to human trafficking.

According to the Department, 164 foreigners were involved in activities against the purpose of their visas, 92 were taken action for overstay, 21 for fake passports, nine for drug-trafficking, seven for entering Nepal without visas.

Similarly, three were deported for taking part in political activities, two for thefts, three for human-trafficking, two for gold smuggling, 13 for misdemeanor among others.

They have been deported for their activities against the purpose of their visas, said Tek Narayan Paudel, the director at the Department of Immigration.
